Nutrition could be a mine field can't it?

Don't worry! If you're thinking this then you are not on your own. Atkins this, lo-fat that, it's a little question why many individuals have lost their religion in the fitness industry including myself!

And I am betting you have possibly been told during the past to have a set amount of calories a day, a certain amount from protein, carbohydrates and fats for a supposed 'healthy balanced diet.'

Understand that if you miss this one fat loss principle ( which most people do ), you effectively 'short-circuit' the entire weight reduction process and your HIT training efforts will be a total waste of time.

Since I started my personal training business so many years ago, I have worked with hundreds of people and have looked at all these peoples eating habits.

During this time I have discovered while some diets help folk shed the pounds, the very SAME diet can cause others to actually put on weight and feel lousy.

This can not be right?

Well it is.

You see.You are unique.

You are 'externally' different to everybody else in the universe!

You have different fingerprints, hair, skin, bone structures and personality to everyone else so surely it makes just a little bit of sense that you are 'internally' different too meaning you process and use foods differently to someone else?

This is what's known as your 'Metabolic Type'. Metabolic Typing is a science of matching nutrients to your own unique biochemistry system and can be considered by way of an easy questionnaire that determines your dominant fuel types.

Heard of it?

Don't worry, few trainers have either which is a shame because if they had, they'd be helping you achieve your goals a lot faster than you've been getting them.

It's TRUE! Some folk respond better to more protein and fats in Their diet, while others react better to a higher proportion of carbohydrates in their diet.

Do you wish to lose weight without too much difficulty?

Exercising is very important to burn calories. But many people shy away from it because it is so boring and difficult to do.

Would you be interested in knowing a better way to shed pounds?

A new product in the market now makes it easy to get exercise for your legs as you do everyday work. This product can help you in getting your legs in wonderful shape.

The product I am talking about is called fitflop footwear. They are walking shoes which provide more muscle activity to your leg and calf musles. This will result in making the legs stronger and firm.

All you have to do is wear these fitflop shoes and start walking. You can just carry on your everyday work while wearing these shoes. The other benefits of fitflops are that they can improve your posture and also reduce back pain and other feet ailments.

Now, losing weight and getting nicely toned legs has become easier. You don't need to spend lot of time at the gym to achieve this. You can get the same workout while walking and doing your routine work.

Fitflops have become a rage in Europe and America. They have been endorsed by famous personalities like Oprah Winfrey. People are eagerly trying out these shoes in order to enjoy their fitness benefits.

The good thing is that these shoes are very comfortable to wear. They also come in trendy designs and are good to look at.

They are so much more than mere walking sandals - they are extremely stylish and good looking. You can wear them with any sort of dress, and they are appropriate for all occasions. Fitflops are indeed a stylish way to stay fit and get lean.

Please remember that fitflops cannot by themselves make you lose all the weight you desire or get your feet in perfect shape. You have to do some exercising to maintain fitness - you cannot escape from it. Fitflops can just ease and accelerate the process for you.

Note that success in any endeavor will not come without some kind of hard work. So is the case with losing weight. You can make the task a little bit easier by wearing fitflops. So better try them out soon.

Here's something interesting --

Obese Children Don't Want Surgery

by Aleksandro Imles

Despite the well documented physical emotional toll that obesity takes on the self-esteem of children and teens - the majority of those surveyed would not want weight loss surgery.

Professor Paul Gateley, who leads the Carnegie Weight Management program, surveyed 100 clinically obese children (aged 8-17). Here is what he and his team found;

60% felt surgery was cheating. 71% felt weight loss surgery was dangerous. 61% believed there were easier ways to lose weight. 29% of the children saw eating too much junk food as the cause of their problem. 59% claimed that managing portion sizes was the main reason for their heavy weight. 60% feel that they get no support in overcoming their weight issues at school. 42% say they have been subjected to bullying. 58% think their body weight will prevent them from getting a boyfriend/girlfriend. A similar percentage worried that their weight would prevent them from pursuing their dream career. What we can learn from this

Youth obesity is easily one of the most pressing health concerns of the developed and developing world. Understanding the fears, concerns and mindsets of these kids is crucial to developing successful interventions to reverse this trend.

It all starts at home: parents need to take control of their children's health by role-modeling healthy behaviours and providing a home environment whereby they set their children up for success. More often than not, obese children have obese children. This is an opportunity to get healthy as a family.

Government/school boards need to do their part: Providing healthy fare at schools and access to healthy foods for low income families is imperative. On the education front, physical education should be a staple in all schools. Further, classes on living a healthy lifestyle should be included in the curriculum of schools. The fact that only 29% of children saw eating too much junk food as being responsible for their weight problem is surprising.

Reversing this worrying trend will be neither easy nor quick. Massive paradigm shifts take time, persistence and the dedication of many individuals and organizations banding together towards a common purpose.

Is Your Child On The Road to Obesity? 4 Mistakes You Can Fix Now

By Dorthy Weatherbush

Everywhere you look, you'll see the signs of an obesity epidemic in the United States. Adults struggling with their weight, levering themselves into and out of cars. Many so morbidly obese that they'll circle a parking lot four or five times before parking rather than be forced to walk an extra hundred feet.

In all honesty, we can not totally place the blame for this on the individuals themselves. Several studies have shown that for a number of people, their chemical and genetic makeup aide in their body's ability to process certain fats. Sure being 100 plus pounds over weight might have been good in the Ice Age but today this is simply not the case.

Nowhere is this more apparent than in looking at childhood obesity and nutrition. Nutritionists estimate that for every point of body mass index a child is overweight by before puberty, the adult that child will grow into will be three points overweight by the time they're thirty. Type II diabetes, where body stress from overeating builds up resistance to insulin, is becoming more prevalent in teenagers.

At the ages of 12 - 16 is when most young girls and boys are self conscious about their bodies. Even "normal looking" kids get teased. If we allow our children to continue down a slippery slope toward obesity, we are setting them up for a very difficult childhood. Parents must be told that healthy eating habits and not Slimfast diet shakes or Medifast meals are the key to weight loss and a nutritious lifestyle.

The good news is that this trend can be stopped. In fact, you may be surprised at the simple solution.

Look back at your younger days and remember what you did as a kid before the electronic babysitters came on the scene. If you recall this time in your life, you will more than likely remember going to the park with friends, playing kick ball or soccer.

After a long day of playing, you were met with a cool glass of milk, water or juice. A sugary cake or pie were a nice end to a full day of activity and not what's now become the new breakfast of champions.

This same attitude can be instilled in your kids, but you have to be strict about it. Keep your kids on the smallest amount of soda you can. If you do give your kids soda, give them diet soda, or a mixture of diet and regular; the key here is that you don't want to give them a sugar addiction early on. Humans are evolved to prefer sweet as a flavor, and the amount of sugar in a can of non diet soda has increased 30% since 1970.

Another simple trick is to schedule snack times along with family style meals. As an example, rather than Johnny eating a snack whenever he is bored, you establish certain times during the day when he will have a snack and what his choices are. By doing this early, it minimizes the impulse eating and helps children make proper choices.

Staying physically active is an absolute necessity. Children are usually mirror images of their parents. If you as a parent live a sedentary life, the chances of your child duplicating your example are very high. If you have little league teams in your town, encourage your children to participate. Not all kids are athletic but all kids need to be active. In addition, set aside at least one day in the week where the entire family is physically active together. It could be a walk in the park or playing tag in the backyard.

The key to providing life long health for your kids is inculcating these habits early in life, so they become habits. Explain why you're doing it when they ask, but don't preach. Your kids will adopt the behaviors they see you doing - you're their parent, their role model, and these are the habits they'll stick with as they get older.

No high blood pressure can be considered safe. Your risk of heart attack, organ damage and stroke is increased even if your blood pressure stays a tiny bit above normal levels. The health risks only increases the longer your blood pressure stays high and the higher it gets.

Fortunately there are natural ways to help reduce blood pressure levels and to prevent blood pressure from rising to dangerous levels. A number of studies have found a correlation between certain diet plans and lowering hypertension so using a diet for high blood pressure means you can eat your way to being hypertension free!

Scientists discovered that lowering cholesterol, red meats and saturated fats in the diet and increasing fruits and vegetable and low fat milk products as well as whole grains can have a significant impact on high blood pressure. Including plenty of fish and organic poultry and cutting out processed sugars added to the blood pressure lowering effect.

The key minerals in the fight against high blood pressure are magnesium potassium and calcium, so including foods rich in these elements is important. Salts and sodium contribute to high blood pressure and hardening of the arteries so any diet for hypertensive patients has to be low in salt.

Some of the best foods to eat to lower your blood pressure are everyday items that may be overlooked in your diet. Calcium and vitamin D are found in skimmed milk. Together these two nutrient work in the body to lower blood pressure and have been known to see results of about 4% lower, doesn't sound like much but can make a huge difference to your life expectancy. Getting about half an hour of sun on at least 25% of your body is also crucial for vitamin D absorption.

Eating spinach will also help to lower your blood pressure. Beans and legumes as well as seeds and nuts (unsalted of course) are also essentials. All of the above are high in magnesium and potassium, key mineral for lowering blood pressure. It is important that you get your intake of potassium through foods, as taking supplements can actually have detrimental effects on your body, so only take potassium supplements with the advice of a healthcare professional otherwise your body balance may be tipped.

Potatoes, Bananas and soybeans are another great trio full of blood pressure lowering potassium. Potassium is so important because of its relationship with salt. Potassium and salt are inextricably bound together, if one is high the other is low, so for the sake of your blood pressure you want potassium to be high! Potassium particularly helps in the kidneys, so it is essential for avoiding the high blood pressure associated risks of renal failure and kidney disease.

For the chocolate lovers amongst us, there is good news. Your favourite treat just got better. Hurrah for dark chocolate! Recent studies have shown that dark chocolate in moderation (around 14 grams per day) will help reduce high blood pressure with no added weight gain or other adverse affects. It is also rich in antioxidants and iron among other minerals, so eat it with nuts or fruit to get the best out of it.

Its important to keep in mind that youdon't have to eat tasteless and bland meals to benefit your blood pressure. You will be living a healthier more active life, the benefits of which are untold, and most of all the deadly shadow of hypertension will be dispelled and you can gain control of your life once more.

Discover A Safe Zone to Reduce Stress and Extreme Tiredness

One of the side-benefits of the Fat Burning Diet and Exercise Plan is that emphasis on mental health.

It is nearly impossible to have your body work for you to burn fat, if you are constantly on the run and don't give it the time it needs to heal itself.

Here is an article that further examines the importance of proper mental resting.

Discover A Safe Zone to Reduce Stress and Extreme Tiredness

by Cecil Kelly

Everyday we learn more about the serious toll stress can take on the human body. Stress can cause dangerous health conditions. It is also a major cause of severe fatigue.

Stress can come from many things in your life. Deadlines, pressure from your boss, and office politics can increase stress at work. Bills, household chores, and family issues cause stress at home. Even fun events like a vacation or a family gathering can increase your stress. Stress is a constant in your life and it can be easy to let it take control. This drains your energy and gives you constant tiredness.

A great technique to eliminate excessive tiredness is to create a safe zone. This is a very easy thing to do. When you do it correctly, a safe zone can be a very good way to reduce your stress and your fatigue.

A safe zone is 30% physical and 70% mental. It can be created anywhere and will be most effective where you are the most stressed. Safe zones can be in your office, car, kitchen, or anywhere else you need. A safe zone should be created where you are stressed, such as in your kitchen, instead of changing locations, such as stepping out into the hallway. When you change locations you send a "retreat" signal to your brain and more stress chemicals will be released into your system. Instead, try to make a mental stand against your stress as it happens.

The next step to creating a safe zone is to control your breathing. Shallow breathing signals "danger" to your brain, increasing stress, and deep breaths signal "safety", reducing stress. Plant your feet firmly on the floor and breathe slowly through your nose. Consciously make yourself breathe slower and deeper with each breath. Slowly, try to focus on slowing your heart beat and releasing your muscles with each breath.

After you are controlling your breathing, begin to clear your mind of negative, panicky, scary, or tense thoughts. Instead, think positive and attainable thoughts. Try simple thoughts like "I will be okay," "I can handle this situation," "Things will get better soon," and "This will be over soon." Begin to feel yourself take control of the situation. You will feel safer, calmer, more rational, and can begin to resolve the problem without stress.

A safe zone helps you mentally retreat and regroup. This can be a miraculous way to escape stress and improve how your brain responds in these situations. It will also greatly reduce stress-related toxins in your system.

As the amount of stress-related toxins in your system reduces, you will begin to feel better and better. Furthermore, being able to control your stress will help you better achieve your goals and face your problems. In fact, the safe zone technique will not only help end your tiredness but it will improve your quality of life.

WHO announced that there are presently 1 billion adults who are overweight and 300, 000 of them are identified as obese. The increasing number of heavy weight and obese people has increased at an disturbing speed; it has also arrived at worldwide epidemic sizes. Causes of obesity have been connected to over eating of food that are rich in sugar and saturated fats that are animal-based, sedentary lifestyle, and the altered eating patterns among cultures in highly modernized cities around the world.

Obesity is one of the many forces of high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, heart diseases and some kinds of cancer. Presently obesity has tuned out to be one of the most known medical concerns especially in developing countries.

If this issue is not addressed to quickly, people will be at risk of fatal diseases because of obesity. Medical science around the world has continuously in research of scientific breakthroughs about obesity. This is in response to the worldwide need to stop health-related risk of obesity. A research in Albert Einstein College of Medicine's medical researchers has yet to be confirmed as one of the medical breakthroughs on obesity.

According to the research that maintaining the level of fatty acids in the brain may be the cure to obesity. Furthermore the study aims to modify the results of molecular material malonyl CoA. This molecule is supposed to have been an effect on the actions of the hypothalamus, which in effect increases the appetite of an individual.

If the scientist can found a way to change the amount of malonyl CoA in the brain, people will not crave anymore for so much food. This research is posing promise to cure obesity to children and adults alike, although it is yet to be tested on humans.

Medical scientists from Imperial College have found a way to suppress the hunger for food among people. Injecting a medicine that increases the oxyntomodulin content in the abdomen was being done in diabetic patients. This hormone, which is manufactured naturally by the body sends out  anote to the brain that the stomach is full.
